- Tory Thomas (Team NiteRider) made a successful return to racing, winning the pairs mixed category with partner Tim Retchford.
- Faux denim lycra also made a return to racing this year, courtesy of John Power.
- Speaking of interesting clothing choices...
- Keith De Soyza was more moderate in his choice of racing apparel.
- Chris Newman didn't care about the rain. Standard racing garb for him on the way to third in the pairs male category.
- There were plenty of punctures again this year.
- Water crossings were again a feature as well, as Adrian Wilson discovered.
- Some riders took a cautious approach when crossing the water.
- Others, like James Maebus, went hard. James and Team Raceline went on to win the Foursomes Male Category.
- Heavy rains and the run off from water crossings made some parts of the course very difficult to complete.
- Phil Cotton (Kona-Mt Buller) had no problems in the mud, powering on to claim the Super Sixes Mixed category.
- Ross Buckingham found the muddy conditions difficult to handle.
- Andrew Bell found it much easier on foot through some parts.
- Anthony Cutajar suffered in the extreme conditions.
- If torrential rain in the morning wasn't bad enough, then gale force winds across the top of the course in the early afternoon only made things worse, as Ryan Braybrook will attest to.
- Thankfully conditions improved late in the afternoon, much to the delight of Paul McEntee.
- And while the conditions may have improved, the damage was already done.
- The riders didn't need any encouragement.
- It was too much for some, opting instead for a free ride home in the Gator.
- Andrew Bell reveled in the tough conditions, taking second place in the solo male category.
- Craig Peacock soldiered on to claim third in the solo male category.
- Placings weren't of interest to some as night set in. Instead it was warm clothing, matching glow-sticks and plenty of food.
