6.30am: Sunday morning. Woke up...

6.35am: A quick peek out the window to see if the sun was out - or were we back to the dreaded grey cloud cover that has brought Sydney sooooooo much rain over recent weeks?

Well unfortunately the news was bad and we were destined to spend another Sunday racing in the cold, wet and windy conditions we are starting to get use too. Yes most Sydney cyclist are beginning to grow webbing between their toes.

Today's format was "Graded Criteriums" and the numbers of riders were down on usual. Taking a guess, I believe that the weather may have had something to do with it? D Grade started the proceedings and unfortunately their weren't many children ready to race, however Chris Weekes showed true dedication and determination and rolled up onto the line to race.

Next on the track was C Grade with Scott Harding, Bede Kelly and Jack Bennett always putting on a good show. These boys always go head to head, week in and week out and give their racing 150% and today wasn't going to be any different. The adults in C Grade also have to work hard to keep up with these under 11 and under 13 riders.

A grade is always very competitive with the young, up and coming under 17's and 19's, wanting to show their abilities against the more astute masters of the sport. Again the pace was kept very high over the track 2 circuit, so much so that some of the A Graders were dropped off the back of the peloton and then having to slog through the rain and wind on their own. The average speed at the end of the race showing upwards of 40 kms per hour.

In B grade, Michelle Duvall, although new to the sport of competitive racing, had shown some real form beating some of the more experienced girls over the past few weeks and there was going to be a grudge match today... with female pride up for grabs. I can assure you that the racing did not leave anyone disappointed and allot of riders reaching for the oxygen at the end of the race. On top of the women's racing - there were some men in this grade who didn't want to be beaten by the girls... AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN. There was male pride up for grabs also.

At the end of the day, everyone had some good racing and most certainly allot of fun and that is what it is all about. If you're not having FUN, you shouldn't be doing it! The final results WASHED up as follows (sorry for the pun).
