LC-CA London League Round 4 - Dover

On a dull but unseasonably warm October Sunday, VC Deal/GS Invicta promoted the fourth round of the LC-CA London League, sponsored by Mosquito Cycles/Kinesis at Crabble Road Athletic Ground in Dover.
In the U10s, Sam Johnson (VC Deal) and Samantha Bryant (Team Darenth) repeated their success of the previous week.
In the U12s Alex Paton (VC Deal) started to pull away from last week's winner Oliver Fritter (Victory CC) however Fritter fought back to take the front in the second lap where he stayed until the finish.
The Youth race saw a repeat of last week's result with Ian Field (San Fairy Ann CC) steadily pulling away from the rest of the field. Meanwhile Alex Atkins (VC Meudon) and Kristian Downs (Anglia Sport/Condor) battled hard for second placing but eventually Downs put in one final spurt to overtake Atkins on the bell lap. David Wood (VC Deal) was best U14 in 5th overall and Amy Thompson (Cycles Unlimited) was 1st girl in 6th overall.
In the senior event, Stuart Blunt (Corridori) was untroubled by the rest of the field and steadily increased his lead on each of the 12 laps, lapping all but four riders. Phil Rayner (Brixton Cycles), Mike Bell (London Fire Brigade) and Mark Russell (VC Meudon) worked well together to try and pull back Blunt but to no avail. Russell attacked on the 3rd lap and did gain a small gap with Rayner joining him. Bell refused to give up and eventually the trio were reunited. Russell slipped in the woods giving Bell and Rayner the advantage and they gradually pulled away. Rayner won the sprint from Bell to finish in 2nd place behind Bell. Bell was 1st veteran and Russell 1st junior. Chloe Henderson took her second victory in the LC-CA London League race this season.
