Versatile West Australian cyclist Scott Suckling, the dual Australian points score champion became the first local rider to win the annual RideSafe Tour de Perth yesterday, clinching the title with third in the Final Stage of the Tour - the Fast Eddy's Criterium at the 'new look' Perth Speed Dome.

Another local rider, Peter Dawson - World Junior Pursuit Champion again showed his exciting potential with a series of brilliant rides to finish third overall. Second was another star of the future, promising youngster, Rory Sutherland from ACT. Fourth was last year's RideSafe winner, Chris White of NSW. Ben Day of Queensland was awarded the leader's jersey on the National Circuit after finishing fifth overall.

Suckling will return to Sydney today, to continue his bid to compete in the Sydney Olympics, and will travel next week in Colarado, USA for altitude training under National coach Gary Sutton, with the rest of the Olympic squad. Peter Dawson and team mate Brodie Cullen, another consistent performer in this year's RideSafe will continue their preparation under WAIS coach, Kevin McIntosh for the World Junior Titles that will be held in Italy later this year.
