Meadowbank Track League

Meadowbank Track League proved its increasing popularity with a record turnout of 44 riders for the eight round of the season long competition.

With many members of the Scottish Squad in attendance many observers expected the prospects of league leader Evan Oliphant to be bleak at the start of the night. However this seemed to bring out the best in the rising talent of Oliphant who ended up top scorer on the night with 10 points after wins in the 12 lap scratch and 8 km points race together with 3rd places in the Team Sprint and Keirin. National squad rider James McCallum was the only rider to challenge Oliphant on the night, finishing with 8 points from a win in the consolation devil and second in the 8km points race and Team Sprint. As a result of the nights activities, Oliphant extended his lead to 24 points over Darren Howitt (Pro Acto Expressa) who only managed to score 2 points on the night. Chris Adamson (Musselburgh RCC) retained his 3rd place overall a further 8 points back but is now joined on the same points by team mate Andy Laing. However, with Oliphant returning home to Wick for the University summer vacation, things may well change over the coming weeks.

The competition in the women's league remains very tight with defending champion Emily Forde (Team Caledonia) and newcomer Kate Cullen (Edinburgh RC) remaining tied for a second week, both scoring 5 points on the night.

In an exciting Youth League, Lisa Kinroy (Edinburgh RC) continues to hang onto her lead, but Kevin Barclay (Edinburgh Racers) narrowed this by a further 2 points to just 4 points after winning the scratch race and pursuit. Thomas Mackay (Edinburgh Racers)strengthened his hold on third place over Keri McMahon (Edinburgh Racers) scoring 3 points.
