Bob Hansing Memorial Cup Race #5

Encino velodrome, Los Angeles, CA, August 5, 2006

The absence of some of "the usual suspects", consistent racing from others, and some strong racing by newcomers at the Bob Hansing Memorial Cup Series race #5 sponsored by Bicycle John's, resulted in some major turnover in the cup series competitions.

In category 1/2/3, the fifth race in this seven race series saw the return of Butch Stinton of ACME Racing, who reclaimed the lead in the best overall competition from David Koesel of AAVC. Aron Gadhia from Kahala Lagrange used some speed in the scratch race and flying 200 m time trial to put himself in contention for the best sprinter competition. Scott Evans of VRC - MS Society continued to build on his lead in the best overall endurance rider. Newcomer Bert Glennon of BGM Sports put everyone on notice with his riding which put him solidly in the hunt for the most aggressive rider competition.

In the Masters 40+, Richard Kim of Cadence/Parkpre not only solidly seized the overall lead in the best overall sprinter competition, but also put himself in contention for the overall title. Tony Trattenero of Encino Velo Cycling Club rode himself into the overall lead in the best endurance rider competition. John Stesney of Merrill Lynch/ Bicycle John's continued his utter domination of that category's most aggressive rider competition.

Kathy Keeley of South Bay Wheelmen added to her lead as best overall women's racer. Consistent racing by Renee Zajac kept her in the lead of the best overall sprinter competition. The women's field also saw the return of Kim Stinton of ACME Racing who maintained her lead in the most aggressive rider competition over hard charging newcomer Megan Dean from Swarm.

Chris Parker of the Encino Velo Cycling Club took first place in the category 4/5 omnium and brought himself into contention for the best overall racer title in that category. Arden Arindaeng of South Bay Wheelmen catapulted himself into first place in the best overall sprinter competition. Newcomer Jack Lindquist of Swarm! rode himself into contention for the best endurance rider competition. Strong racing from Nathan Dauglash of Merrill Lynch/ Bicycle John's brought him within a few points of the most aggressive rider title.

Keith Grine of the Encino Velo Cycling Club continued to build on his lead in best overall junior racer competition. Jesse Marans of Lightening Velo brought himself within a few races of snatching away the title in the best sprinter category.
