Day 2 - August 28
The second day of the Scottish Track Championships provided worthy winners in all of the completed competitions.
Jason MacIntyre (Team Velo Ecosse) took his first track Gold when he won the pursuit, an event in which he finished in bronze medal position last year. With last years champion and silver medallist Russell Anderson and Ross Muir respectively not competing the door was left open for Fort Williams MacIntyre to lift the championship. MacIntyre made good progress throughout the competition catching exiled Scot Matthew Howitt (Yorkshire RC) in the final.
In a very closely contested Bronze ride-off, Edinburgh RC rider Martin Ross, left it to the last half lap after looking dead and buried with 4 laps remaining to take the bronze medal from Stuart McGregor (Glasgow Couriers).
Musselburgh RCC's Alisatir Taylor lifted the Veterans Pursuit title beating defending champion Graham Barclay (Kirkcaldy & Dist CC) by a comfortable margin in the final. Scottish Road Champion Graeme McGarrity (Scotoil RT) took the bronze medal.
Graham Barclays son Kevin (Edinburgh Racers) however faired better in the Youth Sprint where he won the championship in 2 straight rides from Glasgow RC's Scot Robertson. Edinburgh Racers Ross Yates took bronze beating his club mate Martin McGarry 2 matches to 1.
The Sprint competition which takes place over 2 days reached a conclusion to quarter final stage with no major upsets. City of Edinburgh RC qualified the fastest 3 riders, Marco Librizzi, Matthew Haynes and Graeme Steen. Edinburgh RC rider Martin Ross completes the semi-final ride off after beating the 4 seeded rider Ivor Reid in the quarter finals 2-1 in very keenly contested matches.
NB Erratum from text of Day 1 - Graeme Steen did not maintain his silver medal position in the kilo TT from last year as he finished 3rd last night with Marco Librizzi taking the silver medal.
