Blustery conditions met the competitors in the opening session of the Scottish Track Championships behind held at Meadowbank over this weekend.

Matthew Haynes (City of Edinburgh RC) retained his kilometre time trial title beating clubmate Graeme Steen into silver medal position for the second year running. City of Edinburgh RC made a clean sweep with Marco Librizzi taking the bronze medal position.

City of Edinburgh RC also featured strongly in the Womens 500m TT won by Kate Cullen. Last year's silver medalist, Katrina Hair (Johnstone Wh) however had to settle for bronze this year after being pipped by former World Masters Champion Emily Forde (Team Caledonia).

In the Youth 500m TT, Kevin Barclay (Edinburgh Racers) took the honours ahead of Ross Mitchell and Ross Yates (both Edinburgh Racers). Defending Champion Shane Charlton (Fife Cycling 2000) had to withdraw from the competition at the last minute due to illness.

The championships continue Saturday and Sunday from 11am each day.
