Slingshot goes singlespeed

The Slingshot Bicycle Company has always produced bikes that were slightly left of center, and to celebrate their 20 year anniversary, they have decided to unveil a new single speed bike, The SingleShot.
Using the same "Sling Power," technology that is found on other Slingshots, the Single Shot certainly comes equipped with the best components around. Paul Components, Chris King, Thompson, Salsa, Easton and American Classic are some of the names found on the SingleShot, putting the bike instantly in the "Bike Porn" aisle of your local bike shop. And instantly putting a smile on your bank managers face.
Marty Alwood, Slingshot Product Manager, said "The design of Slingshot bikes are very unique, but so are our riders - they want a bike that offers the convenience of being a folder, but still offers the agility and speed of a non-folder."
So if you are looking for a folding singlespeed to go with the rest of your bike collection, and have a chunk of change spare, the SingleShot just might be worth a look.

Marzocchi spurns onepointfive

While some parts of the industry are busy retooling to include onepointfive standard forks and headsets to their range, Marzocchi have decided that it's all a bit silly and decided to release a six inch travel single-crown fork, using the 1.125 inch standard currently used on most mountainbikes.
The 150mm travel Z1 uses a thicker steerer tube to increase strength, a necessity when that much leverage is involved. And since the fork shares a lot of components with it's smaller travel brothers, Marzocchi claim that there will be little price difference between the 130mm and 150mm versions of the Z1.
This is surely a kick in the pants to the onepointfive standard, as Marzocchi allow a rider to add a 150mm single-crown fork to their bike without the need to buy a new frame, headset and stem. And that is the one thing stopping the onepointfive standard from taking off; the fact that it will only be realistic for people purchasing new bikes.
