Team Liquigas-Bianchi's super swede Magnus Backstedt poses with Bianchi's new Pista Concept bike, similar to the one he'll use to attempt to break the derny-paced world hour record later this month in Newport, Wales.

Bianchi's Pista Concept is the real deal for real banked track racing, with oversized double butted 7005 alu tubeset, beefy 50mm oval downtube and custom shaped tubes. Pista Concept has a new purpose-built Cane Creek track wheelset, Sugino track cranks and DedaElementi Pista handlebars.

Ultimate coffee bike

Bianchi's Milano is a super stylin' coffee cruiser that is Eduardo Bianchi Meets Schwinn Excelsior. Available in both mens and ladies models, Milano has a sturdy alu frame and eight-speed Shiman Nexus shifting.

Julien in the crown

Here's a special new version of the Bianchi Oetzi frame as ridden by Olympic and world champion Julien Absalon of the Bianchi-Motorex squad.

Titus Cycles of Tempe, Arizona has some of the most advanced technology in the two wheel industry. This nude Exogrid frame shows the special laser cut titanium tubes that interlock with carbon fibre diamonds, reinforcing the tube cutaway center section. The "ultimate fusion of technologies" is what Titus calls it and who are we to argue?

Titus Cycles founder Chris Cocalis showed us this full custom racer with Isogrid frame tubing. Isogrid is another proprietary technology from the Arizona firm, also used in Serena and Venus Williams' Wilson tennis rackets, ski poles and golf clubs.

Titus mates beautifully sculpted carbon fibre lug assemblies and joins them with ultralight carbon fibre tubes, reinforced with an exclusive composite grid structure that can be "tuned" depending on the size and spacing of the grid.

You wish

Titus Cycles' full custom Racer-Exogrid is something special for the rider who is looking for an ultra high-tech solution to road bike excellence.

Already Famous

Titus Racer-X MTB is the must-have off-road racer for many on the NORBA Sport circuit, and the Exogrid Ti/Carbon frame is race tested. New for 2006 is the carbon fibre seat stay assembly that works in tandem with new tapered, hydroformed lower swing arm.

Wilier Triestina's US distributor Angelo Cilli insisted that we shoot his new for 2006 Thor bicycle. "This is a great new model for next year", said Cilli.

"Thor has a full carbon sloping frame that is similar to our top Le Roi model but is more affordable." Pictured here with Shimano 105 componentry, Thor is also available with Ultegra and FSA carbon fibre components.

Flavio Tizian of ITM showed Cyclingnews this new version of the Loria, Italy based firm's new Visia Superlight stem. Tizian told us that the new stem weighs in at 107 grams (120mm), thanks to 3D cold-forging and a process where the stem has CNC machining to thin the central tube walls. With titanium bolts and a black mirror finish, the Visia Superlight stem is available in 31.8mm diameter and will be available in Spring '06.

Draw your sword

ITM's Tizian also showed us their new round version of the popular Sword carbon fibre integrated handlebar/ stem combo.

ITM's Nivola monocoque carbon fibre TT handlebars have internal brake cables and Aerogel armrests, shown here with straight extensions and weigh a claimed 730 grams.

Whistle while you get big air

New for 2006 from Nike Cycling is the Nike Air Whistler, specially made for the "hucking" set and developed with input from freeride pioneer Andrew Shandro. Originally a skate shoe, Air Whistler became a bike-specific shoe after much development by Shandro and Nike shoe designers.

Air Whistler is a non-SPD platform shoe with an 047+ 'sticky' rubber outsole from Nike, a PP injected insole board for a stiff sole and a comfortable Nike Air cushion heel, combined with a molded heel and inner pad that protects ankles from crank abuse.

Trek has a remedy for the all-mountain blues

After Jason Mraz, it's Trek that has a remedy... their new Trek Remedy model, that is. For 2006, Trek's Remedy provides a solution for "All-Mountain" mountain bike riders, with a lightweight component spec package and 5" or 6" of balanced travel.

Remedy features Trek's proprietary ZR9000 aluminum tubing open main frame with bi-axial downtube and hydroformed top tube, added to a custom tuned RockerLink linkage and Manitou SPV suspension, making the Remedy the all-mountain solution.

Gravity, what gravity?

Trek's Jack platform is for big time big sky riding. Their R&D rider Cam McCaul spent more time upside down testing the Jack 3 than any other way. With a sturdy Alpha aluminum frame, Marzocchi Dirt Jam Pro fork, and Shimano M525 discs, Jack costs some jack but the aggressive geometry is totally whack.

LeMond Rennes Triathlon bike

Named in homage to LeMond's 1989 TT stage win in Rennes, France, this all-new model from LeMond has a unique 'DualZone' approach.

Up front, the 'Clean Air Zone' optimizes aerodynamics at leading edge of the frame without affecting airflow passing over the rider. The Rennes fork and head tube have 'Trip Strips' to reduce weight and channel air flow, while the downtube has a custom-designed profile to minimize drag, as does the low profile downtube.

The 'Dirty Air Zone' is the trailing edge of the bike, where airflow has already been disrupted and the Rennes Tri rig is as light and comfortable as possible, with carbon fibre seatstays and smaller diameter aluminum chainstays for less drag and lower weight.
