Telekom's Pinarello
Braking and tyre clearance are paramount in a race like Paris-Roubaix,
so Telekom experimented with a front end that looks like it's been pinched
from a cyclo-cross bike, complete with steel fork, cantilever brakes
and dodgy stamped-steel brake hanger.

Colnagotougher
than dirt
As if to prove Johan Museeuw wrong five Colnagos finished Paris-Roubaix
under Andrea Tafi (Mapei-Quick Step) Matthé Pronk (Rabobank), Frank
Hoj (Team Coast), Aart Vierhouten (Rabobank) and Franco Ballerini (Mapei-Quick
Step). Thanks to Neil Salter on the Eurobike mailing list for that nifty
factlet.

Mercury-Viatel's
LeMud, er, LeMond
Jamie Drew and his bike took the car option to the race finish, along
with about three-quarters of the field.
Can you say brutal? That's why they call it Hell.

Dirk Nachtergael and
Marc Sargeant
Dirk Nachtergael and Marc Sargeant of the Domo team staff were two
of the humans responsible for the care of the Paris-Roubaix bikes' engines.
Dirk has been Johan Museeuw's personal soigneur for many years, and
Marc is one of two directeurs sportifs under overall team manager Patrick
Lefevere.
Obviously, they've had a good day. They're clean, for a start...
