Team Saturn LeMond Tete de Course

Here is Eric Wohlberg's brand new Team Saturn LeMond Tete de Course at the Tour of Georgia last month; Canadian Wohlberg is a superb time trialist and a major motor for the Saturn squad.

LeMond Tete de Course is a unique marriage between titanium and Trek's proprietary OCLV Carbon fiber technology that are mated in a "spine". Dean Gore of LeMond explained to Cyclingnews "our (Trek) engineers determined that titanium bikes obtain their ride quality from the headtube, oversize downtube, bottom bracket and straight chainstays." In addition, LeMond uses special mechanically butted, cold worked, titanium tubes that are laser mitred for optimum welds.

Trek then mates the titanium lower spine to an OCLV 110 Carbon fibre top and seat tube and seat stay assembly, called the upper, to provide a unique titanium and Carbon fibre frame that weighs in at 2.7lbs (1.23kg) without fork.

Wohlberg's LeMond Tete de Course has a Shimano Dura-Ace 9 speed group, with Dura Ace clincher wheels and Michelin Axial Pro tires. Note the Dura-Ace 54 tooth chainring and the forward seat position favoured by the Canadian tester.

Henk Vogels had a great ride at last month's Tour of Georgia; the Aussie hard man kept the race lead until the next to last day. This season, Navigators are aboard Colnago's C-40 B Stay frames with their unique HP stays. Ernesto Colnago told Cyclingnews "the HP stays provide a more comfortable ride as well as transferring power more efficiently to the rear wheel." Who are we to argue?

Equipped with Campagnolo Record 10 speed group. Vogels has Campagnolo Record Carbon Fiber cranks with Speedplay's distinctive yellow Zero pedals, plus Campy's top of the line Hyperion wheels with carbon fiber rims and Vittoria tubulars. Fizik has made a special Navigators edition Alliante saddle. After a post-Tour of Georgia break back home in Oz, Vogels will be back in action in early June at the Wachovia Cycling Series races aboard his Colnago's C-40.
