Descente's Classic Chevron Pro bib short is an eight-panel set
of shorts made from reasonably heavyweight nylon/Lycra that provide
a good supportive fit that isn't too restrictive. Racer back-style
bibs were the right length and added to the comfort in concert with
the flat-seam stitching. Silicone grippers on the legs kept the
shorts from slipping and the Descente logo is stylishly printed
beneath.
The molded Spectra chamois is actually third in Descente's insert
lineup but its multi-thickness padding, tapered edges and welded
construction was still comfortable long after our bodies had told
us that we had ridden too long, giving us one less area to complain
about as we headed home. An anti-microbial surface treatment wards
off the ill effects of retained moisture, too (or excessively applied
chamois cream…).
Well cut, these shorts are also a great visual match for many of
the company's jerseys with their white reflective 'Chevrons' on
each leg and understated white-on-black style.
Overall the Classic Chevron Pro is a great performing and stylish
pair of shorts which won't break the budget. Those looking to make
a bolder visual statement with their clothing will likely want to
look elsewhere but these get the job done for the rest of us quite
nicely.
