Rarely seen and highly sought after, this Pinarello Montello carried Bruseghin
to 6th place in the Giro d'Italia Prologue.
The Montello makes the most of carbon fibre's ability to be moulded to create
almost liquid lines. This can be seen at work behind the seat-tube, where Pinarello
flows the carbon along the lines of the wheel, pulling back before dropping
to join the seat-stay. In keeping with the Montello's smooth lines, Pinarello
has mounted the rear brake under the chain-stay.

Szmyd's Saeco TT bike is built around Cannondale's Slice Aero triathlon frame,
built from a mixture of Optimo and 6061-T6 aluminium alloy tubes.
The Slice Aero frame also features the new Speed Shadow seat-tube, the strange
looking "lump" that takes up most of the seat tube. This aerodynamic
lump features a contoured cutout along its back surface, which tucks the rear
wheel neatly into the seat tube's slipstream.

Speed Shadow seat tube and aero seat-stays.

Smooth lines on the Andy Walser
made frame

Custom made carbon fibre. Wilier had this bike made in Switzerland by Andy
Walser, who also built Jan Ullrich's TT machines for last year's TdF. Both Montgomery
and Rebellin had the same model for Saturday's Prologue TT.
Rebellin had a bit of a panic just before Saturday's prologue when his Walser
carbon fibre seat-post snapped while he was warming up and had to be frantically
replaced just before the start.
Rebellin's saddle position and seat-post height changed again when his replacement
post slipped and the Italian World Cup leader claimed he could have gone faster
had his position been correct.

I wonder whose seat this is?

Always the flamboyant showman, Cipollini's cool thematic bodysuits have become
a prologue tradition for the great Italian sprinter. For the Giro prologue in
Genoa this year, Cipollini chose a lion motif in roccoco style that was also
reflected in his one-off Specialized TT bike. Check out the unique personalized
Specialized Body Geometry saddle, just for Super Mario himself. Who else would
dare ride it?!
