Floyd Landis' USPS-Berry Floor Trek 5500

Back on home soil after two Grand Tours this season, Cyclingnews columnist and USPS-Berry Floor rider Floyd Landis has his team issue Trek 5500 for his World Championship charge in Hamilton. Note his far-forward saddle position that comes from his origins as a mountain biker.

Chris Horner's Saturn Lemond 2003 Tete de Course

Horner has dominated US racing in 2003 aboard his Saturn team issue Lemond Tete de Course, a unique blend of butted, shaped Reynolds Titanium spine that is merged with an OCLV 110 carbon upper. Add Shimano's Dura Ace 10-speed group and you have the bike that won the Tour De Georgia and T-Mobile International...with help from Chris, of course.

Levi Leipheimer's Rabobank Colnago C-40 HP B-Stay

Levi's ride this season is Colnago's C-40 HP B-Stay, with Rabobank team issue orange paint scheme. Rabobank has been using Shimano's new Ace 10-speed group much of the 2003 season; note how Leipheimer has his Dura Ace STI levers mounted high up on the ITM bars that are supported by a Colnago-badged ITM stem. FIR carbon fibre tubular wheels complete the package for Levi's Hamilton Worlds bike.

Maiden Voyage

Emerging Ukranian cycling star Yaroslav Popovych had a very special new bike for the Hamilton World Cycling Championships. Popo was aboard a brand-new Colnago C-50, being used for the first time in pro competition. Note the larger diameter high modulus carbon fibre tubes mated to the 1.125-inch, non-integrated headset and Force carbon fork.

The C-50 uses Colnago's B-Stay seat stays and High Power chainstays; the HP stays have been rounded for the new C-50. Popo's Limar F-104 helmet hangs from the ITM Colnago stem.

Friends meet at Hamilton

Old friends Ernesto Colnago and Fred Mengoni share a laugh in the pits at the Hamilton Worlds. Colnago is a long-time sponsor of Fred's cycling teams, including Steve Bauer's 1984 Olympic Silver Medal and World 1984 Pro Road Championships Bronze riding for Canada and GS Mengoni. Even at over 80 years old, New Yorker Mengoni can be found speeding around Central Park on his personal Colnago.
