The mercury peeps over zero
It's warmed up in Belgium. Slightly. Not enough for the weekend's races
and not enough for Cam, who is still looking forward to sunnier days.
Hi all,
Another week has past and the weather is finally beginning to warm up a bit
and things with the team are beginning to work themselves out. The things I
am talking about regard the team's bikes for the year and the fact they have
not turned up yet. They have been spotted in Eindhoven at a transport company's
depot and will be here tomorrow (Wednesday) along with helmets, glasses and
shoes. It has been a pain and has not been helping me out mentally since I arrived
but hopefully all will be sorted soon and the season can begin proper.
The weather might have warmed up a bit, but it did not warm up in time for
our race on Saturday, Vlaamse Pijl. It had snowed quite heavily the previous
two days and had come race day there was still a good covering of snow over
the roads and especially the cobbled climbs making the race dangerous and unrideable.
All races on Saturday were cancelled including a three-day tour and other amateur
races. So Saturday was spent relaxing and re-cleaning my borrowed bike and readying
for another race on Sunday at Neerlinter.
Twas another kermesse with the mercury peeping over zero. We were all there
again along with Sebastien (the German) who arrived initially for the race on
Saturday but had to settle for Neerlinter. Once again we all raced well getting
in everything. Glen got away early and then late in the race Hamish and Daniel
got away for the minor placings. Never going well in the cold and with a few
things weighing on my mind I was not switched on and missed the the moves, but
I am feeling good in the races and just biding my time at the moment. Thanks
to Mr Brees (Isabelle's Dad) who helped us out at the finish getting organised
as Gilbert was unable to attend. Appreciated.
We race again tomorrow, a professional kermesse at Wanzale.
Till next time,
Cameron
