In fact, its new Contour Racing Bib Short caused quite a
stir at last year's trade shows when it was introduced. "We
wanted move past the established rules of cycling wear with
the limited edition Contour Racing shorts, and we will produce
only 1946 pairs to commemorate our founding sixty years ago,"
Coccia said. "Our new Contour Racing Bib Short has innovative,
streamlined ergonomics from it's pre-formed paneling which
virtually eliminates seams in the saddle area. And Contour
Racing bib shorts feature an amazing new STEALTH built-in
chamois by Elastic Interface Technology with all-way stretch."
De Marchi's new Contour Racing bib shorts also have a special
Laser-cut bottom hem that incorporates seamless, fusion leg
grippers for unsurpassed comfort and soft, unobtrusive heat-transfer
labels.
De Marchi's new Contour Racing bib shorts use special Pro-Grade
Power Lycra by DuPont that features and augmented spandex
and microfibre mix that creates a unique stretch-recovery
elastic module. According to De Marchi, this allows Contour
Racing bib shorts to adapt to the body like no other short.
De Marchi has added topical, quick-drying and odorless treatment
that actively fights the proliferation of germs and bacteria.
Inside, Contour Racing bib shorts feature the E.I.T. STEALTH
chamois, specially developed for De Marchi. "The STEALTH
chamois represents a landmark in cycling clothing," Mauro
Coccia declared. "For the first time ever, the chamois
is actually built into the short, rather than being a separate
piece that is sewn in. Our E.I.T. STEALTH chamois is more
anatomical and thus more comfortable than any other chamoise
available. STEALTH by E.I.T. is the first "virtual"
chamois, with all-way stretch performance, multiple density
foam and permanent antibacterial treatment."
But De Marchi wasn't satisfied to create just shorts under
the Contour Racing name, so it also created the Contour Racing
Jersey. De Marchi's Coccia explains: "We also wanted
to break the rules of cycling clothing with Contour Racing
Jersey, so we made it with the same kind of innovative pre-formed
paneling we used in the Contour Racing bib shorts, and used
a unique approach with multiple fabric technology for streamlined
ergonomics, improved moisture transfer and effective anti-static
/ UV action."
De Marchi took the unusual step with the Contour Racing
Jersey to combine three different fabrics with three different
properties. First, it used a Carbonium polyester fabric that
reduces and filters dangerous UV radiation. Then, De Marchi
combines X-static polyester & spandex mesh in armpit panels
that offer an effective ventilation for temperature control
and anti-bacterial solution and odor protection. Finally,
De Marchi added SENSITIVE microfibre spandex fabric, which
gently envelops the arms for additional comfort and freedom
of movement. De Marchi's Contour Racing Jersey also has revolutionary
laser-cut sleeve hems with seamless fusion gripper elastic
that easily adapt to any body type and a simple and effective
internal wiring system where you can listen to your favourite
music on an iPod or Mp3 player while riding.
This tradition of long-term innovation and quality Made
In Italy cycling wear from DeMarchi has attracted new distribution
partners worldwide, most notably a new distribution partnership
launched last September for the United States at the Interbike
trade show in Las Vegas. De Marchi has a wider availability
in the US, thanks to Upland Sports Group of Oakland, California,
who has exclusive distribution of the Italian brand. "Our
partnership with De Marchi marks a significant change to our
business. There are very few cycling apparel suppliers that
can say they have product in the same class as De Marchi and
virtually none with similar experience in creating high-end,
best-in-class cycling apparel," said Gary Vasconi, President
of Upland Sports Group. And Upland's VP Robert Carbone stated:
"De Marchi has always been a brand that we have admired
for many reasons, both professionally and personally. We believe
the product stands alone as the best the industry has to offer
in Italian-made, technical cycling apparel. "
De Marchi's Mauro Coccia echoed Vasconi's and Carbone's comments,
saying: "we are very please to finally have such a dedicated,
savvy distribution partner in Upland Sports Group. They are
very close to the US market and have provided us with key
product devlopment input for our next collections."
Coccia concluded his Italia Bici interview by reminding
us tha: "we're really proud of our new Contour Racing
shorts and jersey, but we also have an entire range of products
for men and women cyclists as well as our special Maglificio
DeMarchi classic wool jerseys."
