05 Orbitel riders Daniel Rincón and Javier Zapata put in a powerful start to the 25th Vuelta a Cundinamarca, placing first and second place respectively over the 146km course from Facatativa to Sasaima.

The race started with six laps of the main streets of Facatativa. There were plenty of plays for an early break-away, though no one was able to maintain a gap. As the peleton completed the starting circuit, Colombia selle italia rider Fredy González darted ahead to gain the first sprinters points of the race.

As the group moved out of the city and into the mountains, six riders headed by José Rodríguez (Colombia Néctar) sucessfully put 3.40 minutes into the pack. This break lasted until the 25km to go mark, when a strong 05 Orbitel contingent pulled the leaders back on the open ground.

This lead to an out and out struggle between Colombia selle italia and 05 Orbitel, where with only 8km to go Rincón and Zapata broke from the from the front and created a gap of 13 seconds as they crossed the line.
