GP PoggianaAugust 11, 2002An almost win for Scott DavisReport by Brian Stephens, AIS U23 Team Manager Yesterday the AIS Mapei Aqua returned to racing in Italy after a break, training camp in Mexico and tour in China. The race was the GP Poggiana and AIS Director, Michael Scott who was visiting the program, came along to watch the race from the team car. As luck would have it we drew last car in a 23 team car convoy so the view was from a distance. The course consisted of six laps of a flat circuit followed by the tough climb of Mostacin, four laps of a tough circuit and return over Mostacin in the opposite direction. Unfortunately our guys were still overcoming the travel and return from altitude and were all dropped from the front group of 25 by the third of four tough laps. Aussie Scott Davis on the other hand, was going strongly in the front group and attacked them over the last climb to join Moletta from Zalf at the head of affairs. They lasted until the line with Moletta taking the win from Scott Davis. Results1 Andrea Moletta 2 Scott Davis
