Gleeson's journey rewarded

In the Cycleways Cup held in Navan, Co. Meath, Vincent Gleeson made the long journey from East Clare to ruffle the feathers of the more fancied candidates when he raced ahead with eight miles remaining to cross the finish line three seconds ahead of Robert Whelan of the promoting club, Navan Avonmore CC. Whelan had raced on Saturday in the March Hare Trophy in Kilcullen and admitted that the outing on Saturday was beneficial.
