Vichte circuit raceVichte, September 22Report from Kevin Tabotta, with the Australian national team Three national teams including Australia, USA and Canada joined a field of 140 starters for the 90km cicuit race held at Vichte, Belgium in wet and windy conditions. After just 2 laps of racing on the 12.5km circuit a break of 6 riders including Aussie Mark Jamieson gained 30sec on the main field. Crashes, punctures and the tough conditions claimed a number of starters back in the field. The 6 breakaway riders rode impressively together to hold the gap at a constant 30 sec right to the finish where Mark Jamieson was too fast for the small group, claiming the win. Once again the team work by the Australian team played a large part in the final result. Richard Moffatt was an early withdrawal due to a broken spoke and Nic Sanderson punctured with 5km to go.
