Vassilis Anastopoulos takes lead after second stage win

Sprinter Vassilis Anastopoulos (Volksbank Ideal) has won the second stage of the Tour of Hellas, after a rather easy but windy 128 km stage. He beat Bulgarian Svetoslav Tchanliev and Swiss Philippe Schnyder (Volksbank) in a bunch sprint, and took the overall lead in the process.
In the middle of the stage the winds caused a split in the peloton, creating a gap of 4 minutes which was more than enough to distance race leader Russell Van Hout from the sky blue jersey. Anastopoulos took the stage win and the outright lead, while Serbian Nebojsa Jovanovic, finishing in the the same time as Anastopoulos took the white U23 jersey from Greek Yiannis Tsakouridis.
Tomorrow, the wind seems to be the highlight of the 123km long stage race from Patras to Ancient Olympia city.
