Eriksen wins toughest stage, as Schmitz moves into lead

CSC's Thomas Bruun Eriksen has won the third and hardest stage of the Tour of Rhodes, although not by a big enough margin to take over the GC. That honour went to second placed Bram Schmitz (BankGiroLoterij), who finished one second behind Eriksen but 5 seconds in front of the main bunch containing race leader Sebastian Lang.
That means with one stage to go, Schmitz has a very slender 2 second lead over Lang and Eriksen, with Sidermec sprinter Fred Rodriguez also on the same time. If the latter can repeat his stage winning performance of yesterday, he'll more than likely win the Tour of Rhodes on time bonuses.
The third stage was marked by an attack from Frank Høj (Team fakta) at the 25 kilometre point. He was joined by 10 other riders (including Eriksen), and the group stayed away for most of the stage. However with 5 km to go they were caught after a concerted chase by Sidermec. But Eriksen still had the strength to take the stage win from Schmitz and Høj.
