Australian Team Report

The heat continued for today's 3rd stage of the Giro d'Italia under 26. The course took the riders from Arezzo to Umbertide and then 3 laps of a circuit with a tough climb followed by 2 laps of a another circuit with a tougher climb on which the field blew apart on the last time over.

There were constant attacks and the leaders team had to work hard to keep things relatively controlled. For the Aussies both Gene Bates and Scott Davis finished with the leader's group with Gene dropping a position. The team worked well for our two leaders but for Peter Dawson suffering some back pain after a minor crash yesterday, it got too much and he withdrew. The stage was won by Giancarlo Ginestri from Zalf with Guidi holding his lead.
