The second stage in the afternoon was over 7 laps of an 8.7km fairly flat course which was ridden at a furious pace. No one was however, able to gain more than a couple of hundred meters before being swallowed up by the bunch. The bunch sprint was won by Hendrik Van Dyck with Gene Bates coming in, in 9th.
