Stage 6 was an out and back course with 2 tough climbs on the 15 kilometer loop at the turn around. There were plenty of attacks all day but the only one that stuck was in the last 20 kilometers and didn't contain an Australian. They were all in the main bunch that finished 52" behind them. The stage was won by South African, Rodney Green.
