Stage 8 - November 10: Te Anau - Lumsden, 79 km
Experience triumphs youth

Tour of Southland veteran Karl Murray recorded his first stage win in this race with a sprint finish into Lumsden during the penultimate stage this morning.
The Raboplus rider narrowly headed Joe Chapman (Creation Signs) in the sprint for the short stage while the under 23 leader Clinton Avery claimed third. A split of 10 riders broke away early in the 79km stage from Te Anau to Lumsden. The break stayed away for basically the entire stage, although they were never allowed more than a minute by the peloton throughout the day.
Murray led the charge in the break as he tried to chase down Miles Watson (Share the Road) in the sprint ace standings, providing spectators with an exciting afternoon's racing as he tries to wrestle the jersey from the shoulders from Watson.
