Stage 2 - March 8: Martinborough – Masterton, 94 km
Wood nets another T-Mobile win

In a hot Wairarapa day under a beautiful blue sky, T-Mobile's Oenone Wood won today's 94km stage from Martinborough to Masterton from Trust House New Zealand rider Joanne Kiesanowski with Flexipoint's Loes Markerink in third place.
It was a very successful day at the office for T-Mobile as Ina-Yoko Teutenberg retained the yellow jersey for the second day and goes into tomorrow's 120km stage as the leader once again.
Riders woke up today thinking of the dreaded Te Wharau hill, a 1.9km climb after 65 kilometres of racing. Undaunted by that challenge, the women launched themselves into a very active day, with a number of early attacks. 40 km into the stage, eight riders went clear, and Australian Carla Ryan took the Te Wharau mountain sprint.
Behind the break, less than one minute back, the T-Mobile-led peloton kept the break's gap under control, and with just five kilometres left, the catch was made. Once again, T-Mobile showed pure dominance with Oenone Wood taking the bunch sprint after her team's strong lead-out split the bunch. Yellow jersey holder Teutenberg finished safely in the front group, and keeps the overall lead for T-Mobile going into stage three.
Tomorrow's stage, a 120km circuit near Masterton will be another test for many riders. With two hill climbs and four sprints, it should provide another great day's racing.
