Stage 4 - March 10: Masterton - Admiral Hill, 125.3 km
The T-Mobile show continues

Judith Arndt took the 125km stage and the leader's yellow jersey on a hot day of racing featuring a total of seven climbs.
Despite the great weather, racers were clearly nervous for this decisive stage. Riders and team managers alike checked the course last night before settling on 27-tooth sprockets for the hills to come. Almost 25km of the stage were uphill, but somehow most managed to stick with the main bunch up until the start of the final Admiral Hill.
After 15km of racing, a breakaway of seven riders escaped--including Michelle Hyland (Trust House), Jenny McPherson (AIS), Brooke Ourada (Cheerwine), Alex Rhodes (Australian national team), Loes Markerink (Flexpoint), Carla Ryan (Australian national team), and Amy Mosen and Ivette-Hill (both from Wellington Star).
They built a gap of almost six minutes in 22km. At the 43km mark, they had more than six minutes. Then Larisa Kleinmann (German national team) went to the front and closed the gap down to three minutes. She hammered from the front for 25 km in an impressive effort.
At 74km, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg launched an attack on one of the many hills of the day. She went solo for a few kilometers, but the main bunch chased her. Then another T-Mobile rider, Linda Villumsen, counter-attacked. She rode strong up the climbs and caught the leading break of seven.

With only four kilometers to go before the final hill, three riders went to the front: Judith Arndt (T-Mobile), Leigh Hobson (Cheerwine), and Lorian Graham (Australia National team). The trio set a fast pace right from the start of the 11km hill.
Arndt got a small gap with 8km to go, which she opened as the climb got steeper. She ended with a stage win and agap of 1:45 over Hobson and 2:47 over Graham.
The gap was enough to give Arndt the yellow leader's jersey from teammate Ina-Yoko Teutenberg. Arndt is now well positioned for a win which would be her first Women’s Tour of New Zealand. Arndt's win also gave T-Mobile it's fourth (of four) stage win.
Tomorrow, riders will complete the two final stages of the tour: a 12km individual time trial in the morning and the Wellington criterium in the afternoon.
