Allan Davis (Discovery Channel) took his fourth win of the Tour of Qinghai Lake today, outclassing his opponents and taking an easy sprint for the win. He bested Ukraine's Yuriu Metlushenko and Team Wiesenhof's André Schulze in the bunch sprint. DFL-Cyclingnews' Daniel Lloyd relinquished his leader's jersey to the Italian Gabriele Missaglia on intermediate time bonuses, but remains just two seconds in arrears with three stages left in the race.
For the third day in a row, the riders were soaked with a steady, cold drizzle on the 208km long stage six, and started the race swathed in plastic rain capes and helmet covers. The first half of the flat stage was on smooth freeway roads. There were many attempts to form a break group, and wasn't until one hour into the race that a 15 man break formed. They only gained around two minutes on the peloton and were caught with 50km to go.
A sprint on the uphill finish ensured a group finish, but Allan Davis (Discovery Channel) proved once again that he is the strongest of the tour.
Tomorrow's stage has a large climb reaching 3792m and with the top 8 in GC within a minute of each other a thrilling stage is expected.
