Missaglia keeps lead and wins overall

Just like last year, this edition of the Tour of Qinghai Lake was won by only one second. Gabriele Missaglia (Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Selle Italia) held onto his lead over Daniel Lloyd (DFL-Cyclingnews.com) to take overall GC honours in downtown Xining this afternoon.
A pleasant 19°C treated the riders during the final stage, a 5.5km circuit to be raced 20 times. Daniel Lloyd (DFL-Cyclingnews.com) needed precious time bonuses, but on the flat course, there was no way the Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Selle Italia riders were going to let him get them. Discovery Channel was also in the action near the end of the race to line up their number one sprinter Allan Davis, who succeeded with another win to add to his tally of four wins.
The bunch stayed together the whole race with only a few minor breakaway attempts, none of which amounted to anything, and in the end, Allan Davis (Discovery Channel).

Missaglia (Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Selle Italia) celebrated his overall win in front of a huge crowd, with only the night's celebrations left to complete. Chinese National team member Ma Haijun was a crowd favourite in his blue Asian leader's jersey. With his success, the local rider has become an instant celebrity looking sure to produce more results in the future.
Sergio Barbero (Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Selle Italia) retained his KOM jersey, while Allan Davis (Discovery Channel), who has worn the green sprint leader's jersey from start to finish, was presented one last time with another.
