Queensland's Academy of Sport cyclist Carla Ryan produced the fastest time of the day in today's women's time trial, being staged on the Sunshine Coast as part of the National Women's Grand prix series.

The small but competitive field included both the reigning Queensland time trial champion Shara Gillow and state road race champion Carly Hibberd.

Ryan finished more than one minute ahead of her nearest rival, Vicki Eustace of the A.C.T., with Q.A.S. team-mate Louise Kerr rounding out the placings.

"Very testing course, the wind was pretty full on, didn't feel like you were getting into a good rhythm at any time during the race," Ryan said.

The Queensland Academy of Sport team, though, is not expecting to feature as strongly as usual in tomorrow's women's grand prix road race.

"Oh it's been pretty unfortunate during the week, one of my team-mates was hit by a car and another team-mate is having a break," Ryan told Cyclingnews.

"It's only a couple of us now racing and hopefully we'll get out there and do the best we can."
