With just a short time trial to follow, the climbing specialists know that this is the day where they have to make things count. The Lukmanierpass features again but in tackling the mountain from the opposite direction things are tougher, with the climb now ranked as hors categorie. Once past the summit the peloton will drop down to Disentis, then head upwards again for the category one Oberalppass. A quick descent takes them to the bonus sprint in Gemsstockbahn and then it’s time for the day’s third big climb, the first cat. Gotthardpass (2106 metres). The remaining 29 kilometres are almost all downhill, with the exception of the fourth category climb at Quinto which is just under three kilometres from the finish in Ambri. There is also a bonus sprint just before that point. Stage Profile
