agiskoviner.com Eelmore circuit races

Eelmore, UK, May 11, 2005

As soon as the sun went behind the clouds, it was remarkably cold, so most riders took to arm and knee warmers, but this did not the racing being hot and fast. Another good turn out for so early in the year. Maybe it's everyone practising for this Sunday at Crawley? Same time next week for the same sort of fast, almost flat out racing. 1900 seniors (all categories) and 1830 for youths.

Plenty more attacking riding from the Women/Vets/Juniors/Cat 3 and 4 riders this week, which is uncharacteristic of the 3/4's at Eelmore as they usually prefer an easy ride round and a bunched sprint. It may be something to do with having Lewis Atkins around! He was tired from placing second behind Tony Gibb at Hillingdon the evening before, so he opted for the lesser category race; but he still had more than enough firepower to see the rest off with a strong bridge to some lone breakaways, whom he then dropped and rode round to finish alone. It was a fast finishing group sprinting in behind for the placings.

Another attempt from the gun saw a select leading group go away and stay away in the Elite/Cat 1/2 race. The remaining bunch made their own attempts to find the placings, with the result being little groups splattered around the circuit. Eventually Paul Pickup made it off the front of the leading foursome to win alone.

If you would like to be part of a successful club that supports and encourages riders at all levels and of all standards, please contact Gary Kristensen MBE via the website "Contact Us" link on www.agiskoviner.com. We are particularly looking for Youths and Juniors to supplement our Development Squad, as well as seasoned time triallists looking for national medals!
