John Drum Memorial

Currow, Co. Kerry, June 20, 2004

By Shane Stokes

Griffin was best again 24 hours later when he took his third win in the John Drumm Memorial in Currow. Griffin went clear with Lynch, Fitzgerald, Laurent Dumoulin and his Earl of Desmond team-mate Kieran McMahon on the first twelve mile lap and opened up a five minute lead on the rest of the field. Griffin raced ahead on the final lap to reach the line 10 seconds clear of Lynch, with Fitzgerald a further ten seconds behind. Dumoulin and McMahon were fourth and fifth while sixth place went to Timmy Barry (Cidona Carrick Wheelers).

The senior 3/junior/veteran's race came down to a big sprint, Maurice O'Brien (Kanturk) taking the honours ahead of Daniel Clifford (Killorglin) and Shane O'Halleron (Duhallow).
