The Blizzard Bike Club dominated this weekend’s S & S Turbines time trials 155 points to Grande Prairie’s 57. Pat Ferris of the local squad won the 20 km Cecil Lake time trial with a time of 31:28 minutes. Peter Watson of GP was second at 32:21 and Rod Lewis of the Blizzards was third at 32:29.
A big crowd of twenty-four riders came out on a hot, sunny day of racing. The Blizzard ‘A’ squad won the 4 rider, 40 km. Team Time Trial with a time of 1:03:58. Les Elliot, Pat Ferris, Stephen Ferris and Bob Andrews beat the GP ‘A’ squad by 1 minute 19 seconds under very hot conditions. The Blizzards lead the Challenge Cup race with 465 points to GP’s 301 and Dawson Creek’s 157. There are only two Challenge Cup races remaining.
The times on the S & S Turbines morning 20 km time trial were as follows: Pat Ferris 31:28, Peter Watson 32:21, Rod Lewis 32:26, Irvin Tang 32:43, Bob Andrews 32:52, Steven Davis 33:20, Blaine Richter 33:25, Les Elliot 33:39, Trevor McDonell 33:40, Terry Stone 34:04, David Kay 34:18, Richard Wood 34:30, Trevor Clifford 34:33, Gord Harris 35:14, Colter Young 35:15, Barb Polehoykie 35:21, Kevin Cooper 36:24, Pat Coppins 36:31, Owen Giebelhaus 37:08, Jolea Bilodeau 37:13, Marie Young 39:50, Darren Guliov 40:45, Francis Plum 41:20, Lisa Verbisky 41:53, Dawn Gladysz 49:33 and Patricia Andrews 54:30.
Team Time Trial times were as follows: Bliz A – Les Elliot, Pat Ferris, Stephen Ferris and Bob Andrews 1:03:58, GPA – Blaine Richter, Peter Watson, Trevor Clifford, Steve Davis 1:05:17, Bliz B – Richard Wood, Terry Stone, Trevor McDonell, Colter Young 1:08:23, GP B – Francis Plum, David Kay, Joseph Gladysz, Pat Coppins 1:10:03, Bliz C – Barb Polehoykie, Kevin Cooper, Jolea Bilodeau, Dayna Stickel 1:11:59, Bliz D – Gord Harris, Floyd Polehoykie, Trisha Gladysz, Marie Young 1:25:57.
