Klauss claims win

Fifteen riders contested Saturday's 50 kilometre handicap on the hilly Glenaroua course, starting and finishing at Tallarook. The 20 minute limit group of Pat O'Connor, Ethen McMennemin and Jodie Johns did a great job leading the race to the 40 km point where they were caught by Jeff Madex, Peter Jenkins and Wayne Klauss from 12 minutes.

This combined group held out the chasing four minute and scratch group, to contest the finishing sprint. Klauss was too quick, winning comfortably from Jenkins, with Pat O’Connor grabbing third place from Jeff Madex. Junior rider Ethen McMennemin finished off a great ride for fifth.

Just 30 seconds down was Alan Adams, recording fastest time of 1 hour 22min for the 50km.
