Winkie's 'Come & Try Day' was another successful attempt by the Riverland Cycling Club to encourage some more cycling enthusiasts to join.

The day's proceedings got underway with a couple of warm up laps ahead of graded scratch races for those keen for some competition. Casey Webb joined in Sunday's festivities by successfully completing two staggered laps at 9.6km per lap. Her longest ride to date and hopefully a new junior member for the club.

This week A Grade consisted of Lee Stevens, Angus Boase, Matthew Benson, Mick Gray, Chris Stevens, Marcus Whitting and Glen O'Brien completing three laps totalling 28.8km. O'Brien may have only claimed the wooden spoon but his efforts were not un-noticed. Holding on to the bunch until the final stages of the second lap where he was forced to finish the race solo. Boase lead the charge down the finishing straight to claim line honours ahead of Stevens.

Ruth Strout, Angelo Ylia, Barry Trewren, Janine Webb and newcomer Eli rode together for their 19.2km race. It finished in a tight sprint battle with Strout just edging out Trewren on the line. The three remaining riders, Nicole, Alex and Casey, who didn't compete in the scratch race events completed one more lap and seemed to appreciate the casual atmosphere associated with The Riverland Cycling Club.

A barbeque lunch with some pasta salads for added carbohydrates was the perfect opportunity for the new riders to find out more about the club and our socialising ways. We look forward to seeing them at more events in the future.
