A healthy sized field began racing in mild conditions with Michael Johnston heading off solo for his 1st senior ride. The next bunch was hot to trot; reeling him in & breaking up before Sedgewick. Micah & Lance Tonkin headed off in a big attempt on a result and at the Gooseneck it appeared they had succeeded, but soon after the young legs got to Lance and Micah attacked and was on his own. Around the Gooseneck the race came together with the scratchies going like an old-fashion-fun-time-scratch-bunch and with wind at their heals the chase began in earnest. Scratch caught the main bunch after the telephone exchange and the hunt for Micah began. Cruelly he was run down with only 600 metres to go. Josh Gundry came thundering home for the win after a tricky sprint.
