The winter road Championship events were raced on the Kobyboyn- Highlands Road course, a race distance of 60km.Twenty riders filled the three divisions.

Club Championship Division: As expected, the racing was very competitive with five of the seven starters still together into the final 5km.Ron Burgess, after two strong attacks opened up a 50m break which was enough to hold off the chasers and cross the line as the 2006 Club Champion,a well deserved and popular win.Congratulations “Burge”.

Division 2: Again very competitive with five contesting a sprint finish.A very game Ian Baker led out from 200m but was grabbed by Jeff Hibberd and Brett Bender with just metres to race.Hibberd held out Bender to take the Division 2 title with Baker in 3rd place.

Division 3: Early attacks split this group, leaving Jeff Madex and Daryl O’Keefe in front, Despite desperate chasing by Wayne Flint and Rob Ekberg the leading pair held on to contest the finish.Jeff Madex just held out O’Keefe to take the Division 3 title.Wayne Flint was 3rd.

Division 4: A 'one-act' affair with honours going to Murray Thompson, Division 4 Champion. Racing next week is the 'Pitstop Handicap' which starts at Murrindindi at 10am, Sunday August 13. This race is promoted by Ted Kirby and the presentation will be at the 'Pitstop' in Yea.
