Seymour, Victoria, July 16, 2005

Saturday's event was a 54km handicap starting at the Burgess Signs on Emily Street to Pyalong hill and return to finish at the Hilldene Fire Station, with 24 riders riding the event in wet and cold weather.

Mick Mulquiney, off limit of 25min, was assisted by co-marker John Harland to the Pyalong turnaround, and managed to hold on to win this race from a group of 12 chasing riders. Most of these were from the middle handicap groups with lone scratch rider, Ron Burgess. His co-scratch rider, Carl Simmons, punctured 20km into the event.

Ron Burgess outsprinted the group for second place and fastest time, from Alan Adams, who took third.

Wayne Klauss was fourth, with Duncan Arendse and Kevin Simmons fifth and sixth.

Others to ride well in the testing conditions were Glen Christensen, Darryl O'Keefe, John Burgess, Don Gee, Bob Ward and Patrick Tubbs. Ron Burgess rode the course in 1:23:00. Next Saturday's event is an individual 44km time trial and on Sunday the Euroa race starting at 10am.
