New riders dominate

In the most demanding race of the season new talent emerged from impressive field in this weekends Mega Bike sponsored Twin Peaks Handicap. The 55km race was a hard fought affair with scratch unable to catch a formidable pack assisted by some prominent new talent. Riders had to negotiate two major climbs up Willunga and Wickhams hills as well as a challenging drag up out of Kuitpo to Peters Creek. New rider Richard Carwshaw took the honours on the line from another fresh talent Michele Primaro. Carwshaw started with the 14 minute group the only other survivor Paul Weatherall also performed admirably to take sixth. Primaro was treated more harshly by the handicapper in his first event starting with the 8 minute group his fellow marker and another new face Will Mckay hung on to take eighth.

Third place was an impressive effort from Alastair Muir for his first result with the club making it a trifecta for new blood on the line. Neil Theis showed his climbing skills and took fourth for his second major result this season.

The remaining major place was yet another first for a club member with Terry Seidel taking his first major result after starting last year.

Bob Seymour took the prize for the fastest time for over 55 and continues his very consistent season although he did not take a first ten today. Helen Roach returned to take the fastest time for the ladies and Dean Bevelander riding with scratch was the fastest time.

Claude Altin from Mega Bike was particularly generous with his sponsorship with winners today taking home enough to stock up their Christmas stockings. He was warmly thanked for his on going support at the presentations.
