Warrnambool CC Club Championships

A quality field faced the starter for the 70km club championships under sunny skies at the picturesque Wangoom Recreation Reserve. Many competitors were fine tuning for this week's upcoming Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic, and the demanding out and back Framlingham Forest course didn't disappoint.
Warrnambool's answer to Alessandro Petacchi, Jade Frankel, unleashed his powerful sprint to take out the uphill finish from Brian McNamara and the ever improving Peter Murphy. Club President Gary Coombes hung on for fourth after soloing off the front for 15km, only to be reeled in during the latter stages of the gruelling event.
