Forbes to the fore

If time trials are the race of truth then there were quite a few regular racers who didn't want the truth to be known. Only twenty riders lined up in near perfect conditions for time trialing.

Several riders, Dean Kelly, Pat Delahunty, Adrian White, Frank Tortorici and Dylan Forbes were able to improve on their last time trial time by two minutes or more. A very good effort even taking into consideration the much better race conditions.

Forbes was the last rider to start and rose to the occasion by recording the fastest time on the day, and a personal best, of 28:03:13.

Two rider who have only had a handful of races during the year filled the next two fastest times, Joe McDonnell 28:34:17 and Mark Davis 28:43:10.

Several other impressive times were from 82year old Eric Doughty 35:38:67 and 55 year old Rob Calladine 28:57:14.

Two new members this year, Daniel Silveri and Michael Comensoli have been showing rapid improvement in the scratch and handicap racing. They both translated that form into very good time trial times Comensoli 29:35:06 and Silveri 30:11:26.

Next week's race is a 27km scratch race with group 4 marshalling.

Next Friday night there will be a Christmas get together at the Unanderra velodrome for members and their families. Riders are to bring along their road or track bikes as there will be novelty racing for both. The events will commence at 7pm. The Club will provide nibbles and soft drinks.
