Stage 1 - April 25: Sulphur Springs Road Race, 82.6mi
Lill takes stage, overall lead at Bisbee

Darren Lill (Team Type 1) outsprinted Phil Zajicek (Fly V Australia) sprinted to win stage one, a 82.6 mile road race in Sulphur Springs. Lill claimed a 15-second bonus to take the La Vuelta de Bisbee overall lead moving into Saturday afternoon's time trial.
Colombian Gregorio Vega used his Tecos Trek team to control the race, but despite drilling the pace at the front of the field for hours Tecos Trek lost the overall lead. Vega now sits in third place, nine seconds behind Lill.
Lill edged out Zajicek with the help of team-mate Shawn Milne, who placed third. The trio finished three seconds ahead of the next pack, which contained Vega.
Bisbee's spring wind returned with force, forcing echelons that went from gutter to gutter. Race officials allowed the pack to use the entire road when the riders were on lesser-traveled rural roads.
Lill said the fast changing wind direction frustrated his team's efforts to forge gaps by forcing the field into the gutter. Lill knew Zaijeck was on his wheel climbing around the Lavender Pit copper mine on the approach to Bisbee, but strong teamwork delivered him to the sprint in great position.
"That was a really dicey sprint," Zajieck said. "I waited too long to go."
Winds of 30 mph are predicted for the Warren Time Trial, a 7.2-mile rolling course riders face Saturday afternoon. Lill is predicting a close general classification battle, with several good time triallists within a minute of the lead.
"I think it is going to be close," Lill said.
