Robinson Nuñez won the Chile Time Trial championship by 35 seconds over Jose Medina on his return to racing after sitting out last season with a knee injury. Luis Sepulveda took third place in the national event.

"It is really incredible to be back on the bike and to achieve my first win out of the amateur ranks in the national championships," said Nuñez. "I will continue working towards new exciting objectives."

The Time Trial was 40 km from the small town of Rivadavia, near Vicuña in Chile. The area is full of hills with sun and strong winds all year round. The bright sky makes it perfect for astronomy, with some of the most important telescopes of the world placed in the area.

The circuit was 20 km into the Andes mountains, through a small valley, and then 20 km back to the starting point. The return was marked by a strong headwind that killed anyone not prepared for the extra hard final kilometres.
