A solid nine second victory claimed the yellow jersey back from Australia's Nathan O' Neill (Health Net-Maxxis).

A breakaway formed early comprising of all the major teams.
Yellow jersey holder, Ben Jaques-Maynes (Priority Health), on the front chasing the break.
Priority Health and Health Net did the honours controlling the field.
Toyota/United had several riders in the early move.
The break pulled out a good margin on the field.
The peloton didn't seem to have a sense of urgency in chasing.
Jeff Louder (Health Net) navigates the twisty descent on the backside of the course.
Cooper Spur Mountain challenged the peloton with hairpin turns and hair raising descents.

The field cruises into the feed zone in the sweltering heat.
Katie Mactier (ValueAct Capitol) throws her bike forward and pips Flavia Oliveira (Tibco) on the line for the win.
Justin Rose (Bob's Bicycles), Max Jenkins (California Giant Strawberries-Specialized) and Matthew Johnson (Team 5 Star Fish) initiate an early breakaway gaining up to 13 minutes on the field at one point.
A rider dangles for miles between the break and the field only to be swallowed up by the hard charging field.
Health Net controlled the field all day, reeling in the breakaway on the final lap.
