McLachlan adds another
House continues GC lead

Kristian House (27) didn't feature in the placings in either of day two's stages at Westbury, but with casualties falling all around him, he took control of general classification and will take a 1.27 minute lead with him to the North-West Coast for day 3.
Previous overnight leader, Tasmanian teenager Tim Walker had a horror day, losing more than a minute in the 39 km criterium at Westbury and then 18 plus minutes in the out-and-back race in the afternoon after being caught behind a group of fallen riders.
Whilst Walker was considered one of the day's big losers, Queensland's Peter Herzig had a day of genuine mixed emotions. Herzig won the morning stage to move into outright second, but then also getting caught in the carnage of the fall, lost almost six minutes and fell back to 21st place at 6.48 minutes behind House.
Although there are still seven stages still to be raced, the cream is starting to rise to the top with House, Kjell Carlström (Finland), Robert McLachlan (ACT), David Kemp (Queensland) and Tasmanian Wes Sulzberger all holding down top 10 placings.
Sulzberger is also involved in a battle royal with McLachlan and Kemp for the Tattersall's Cup. After losing ground on Tuesday to McLachlan, Sulzberger edged back to a 22-point lead yesterday.

The first 20 km of the afternoon stage almost sent some tour veterans to sleep, such was the lack of activity from most GC contenders. Patrick Shaw made a half-hearted solo attempt to get away from the peloton, but the powerful head wind took a marked effect on Shaw, as well as others and he soon was reeled back in, in fact losing time as he was leap-frogged by the peloton.
But at the 18 km mark of the stage, all hell broke loose. A fall involving at least nine riders spread-eagled the field with some caught in the carnage, others simply held up for several seconds, while others – the ones at the front of the peloton, simply rolled away, oblivious to the havoc going on behind them.
Peter Herzig was the hardest hit – not with physical damage, but just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was caught in the fall and lost time, too much time and his chances of winning the tour are almost certainly over.
After the accident, the lead part of the peloton lifted the tempo and in the end was able to finish in front of the expected finish time, averaging 41.81 km per hour. Robert McLachlan again led the pack home, winning his second stage this week and his 26th race this year.
McLachlan has also kept his chances of winning the tour alive, moving into eighth place and poised at 2.57 minutes behind leader Kristian House.
Whilst Herzig and Walker were the big losers of day two, Scott Peoples and Sulzberger move up. Peoples was third in the morning stage and with another solid performance in the afternoon, moved into second place overall at 1.27 minutes behind House.
With McLachlan adding yet another race to his burgeoning trophy cabinet, David Kemp and Sulzberger filled the minor roles. And it is that trio that is the main contender for the Tattersall's Cup series, which started back in August with the Tour of Gippsland and has included the Australian Cycling Grand Prix and Tour of the Murray River. Sulzberger still leads, 22-points ahead of McLachlan, with Kemp still in touch, a further 28-points back.
The Tour continues on Thursday with the peloton heading to the State's northwest. A morning criterium over 45 km at Latrobe will be followed by a much tougher 80.7 km road race from Latrobe to Beaconsfield.
