Stage 2 - April 30: Omagh-Cookstown

Connor Wins Stage 2 of Tour of Ulster

Ryan Connor from Ballymena has won today's stage of this year's Tour of Ulster from Omagh to Cookstown covering a distance of 64.8 miles. Ryan the winner of the recent Tour of the North and Commonwealth Games rider outwitted his breakaway rivals on the run into Cookstown after he attacked at Stewartstown to win the stage by 2 seconds

The stage started with a furious pace, and by the time the main field reached the second KOH of the day it had split into three groups, but on the approach into Draperstown the front two groups merged to form a front group of approx. 60 riders.

The main field were very active for the remainder of the race with numerous attacks, but on the approach to Stewartstown a group of 8 riders broke clear and it was from this group that Ryan Connor made his move to win the stage.

Stage 3 starts on the Cookstown to Moneymore Dual Carriageway on the Moneymore side at 5.00pm. This 2.5 mile straight time trial to Cookstown will split up the leaders.
