Prologue - July 18: Mini criterium, 15.4km

Juniors ready to roll in Canada

Éric Boily, Canadian criterium champion and road champion sent a clear message by completely dominating the prologue of the 37th edition of the Tour de l'Abitibi on the streets of Val-d'Or. A member of the national team, Boily crossedthe finish line completely alone. He dominated the 15.4 km race in 22.23 minutes.

At the finish, the Chicoutimi-born racer beat team Columbia's Julian Arrerondo and team Quebec's Joel Dion-Poitras. Boily and team USA's Daniel Holloway broke away on the second last lap - the breakaway sets up a hot competition between the USA and Canada.

The first official stage for World Cup juniors will be held tomorrow when the 159 racers from seven countries ride the team time trial from Val-Senneville to Val-d'Or, with a criterium to follow that evening.
